Charlotte Mensah is an award-winning hairstylist and the owner and artistic director of the Hair Lounge salon. She has been at the forefront of the natural haircare movement since 2000 and has lent her knowledge and expertise to magazines such as Elle, Tatler and ogue.

She is the creator of the Charlotte Mensah Manketti Oil premium hair care range, which is designed for afro/mixed and all curly hair types. Products such as the Manketti Oil Shampoo and Conditioner have become renowned for their ability to leave your hair feeling soft and easy to manage. Charlotte has won Afro Hairdresser of the Year three times. She is the first black woman to be inducted into The British Hairdressing Awards’ Hall of Fame.

Dizziak is the brainchild of Loretta De Feo, who used to work as a beauty contributor at Stylist Magazine. She was frustrated at the lack of deep conditioners on the market and decided to create a beautiful and fragrant product that would work on afro hair.

The brand offers shampoos, conditioners, hair and scalp treatments. The products are suitable for all hair textures and are enriched with ingredients such as aloe vera, castor oil and shea butter. Dizziak’s Deep Conditioner also won Best Hair Treatment at the Cosmopolitan Beauty Awards

Flora & Curl was founded by Rose Ovensehi. After discovering that many haircare products on the market were formulated with harsh ingredients, Rose tried and tested a variety of DIY formulas which led to her creating a line of haircare products. The brand prides itself on a moisture centred, plant powered haircare range made with gentler ingredients. 

Some of the products the brand offer include the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel, African Citrus Superfruit Shampoo, and the Flower Garden Hair Styling Butter.

Equi Botanics is the brainchild of Ekwy Chukwuji-Nnene. Ekwy wanted to have healthy and thriving hair after years of being dependent on relaxers. She started trying out various natural hair ingredients in the comfort of her own home - and Equi was created.

Afrocenchix pride themselves on creating safe and effective natural haircare products. Founded by Joycelyn Mate and Rachael Corson, Afrocenchix is the first British brand specifically for afro hair available in a major retailer - Whole Foods Market.

Afrocenchix have ranges for every afro hair need such as The Braid Care Set, The Newly Natural Set and The Moisture Surge Set. All ingredients used in their products are natural and they have been certified organic by the Soil Association and certified Fairtrade by the Fairtrade labelling organisation. In 2018, Afrocenchix was voted Best Natural Hair Brand by BBFA.

Big Hair + Beauty 

Founded by Melissa Sinclair in 2014, Big Hair + Beauty are a clean haircare brand for afro and curly hair. The brand believes that understanding your hair and the relationship it has with the products you reach for every day is the key to a good hair day every day. 

Big Hair + Beauty sell products such as the Curl Care Bundle, Deep Conditioning Clay Mask, and the Whip Moisturising Butter. Carrot Essential Oil, Aloe Vera and Sweet Almond Oil are some of the ingredients the brand use in their products..

Bouclème specialise in plant powered hair care for natural curls. To make curlier hair easier to manage, the brand has created a three-step system: cleanse, condition and define with the goal of promoting beautiful, shiny, and nourished curls. Bouclème was founded by Michele Scott-Lynch in 2014.

Bouclème offers a range of products including the Revive 5 Oil, Intensive Moisture Treatment, and the Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo. In 2019, the brand won two awards at the Marie Claire UK Hair Awards 2019. Their Curl Cleanser won Best Shampoo and their Intensive Moisture Treatment won Best Product for Afro Hair. The latter was also nominated for the ‘Textured Hair Hero’ award at British Vogue’s Beauty Awards 2020.

Nylah was founded by Kam Davis. Her inspiration for launching the brand was her young daughter, who she wanted to grow up in a world where Afro hair is seen as beautiful. The brand believes in honesty and transparency, so they list all ingredients in their formulation, allowing customers to make informed decisions about the haircare products they use.
