To Tone or Not to Tone?

Toners are a bit of a mixed bag; some people swear by them and others say they are a complete and utter waste of time and money. I personally would never consider my daily skincare routine complete without slapping on some toner. I decided to ask a couple of beauty junkies what their thoughts were.

Yay to tone

Teni Giokabari, Beauty Enthusiast.

I use two different types of toners. I use Acid toners for exfoliation and a more even skin tone. I also use a rose toner to calm my skin after using acids, as the skin can be a little agitated. I rotate through a few different tones, but my constants are Alpha-H Liquid Gold and Pixi Rose Toner The benefits of using toner for me are smoother skin and a more even complexion, plus the rose toner helps refresh and calm.

Nay to tone

As someone who has oily/combination skin, I have always been a little cautious of them. When I went to Melanin Beauty Live last year, a beauty editor said that they may be doing more harm than good to our skin and since then, I have gone off them completely. I remove my makeup with Bioderma Sebium H20 Micellar Water, and it cleanses my skin without drying it, which is what toners would do when I would use them.

So there you have it - the pros and cons of using a toner.
