Every time I review a primer I always start by saying that I am not a primer person. I generally go straight from skincare to complexion products but I use an eyeshadow primer every day. With their Velvet Skin Coat, DHC may have created the primer that has changed that. Firstly I love the fact that it is in a small tube that is 15ml. The small size makes it far less overwhelming for someone like me. You don’t need a lot of product, especially if you are only going to use it on the t-zone. When I first got the product, that was how I started using it but now, I use it all over my face because I really like it.
This is a silicone based primer so when you apply it, you get the gel texture that you are accustomed to. It dries to a powdery ‘velvet’ texture which means that you don’t feel like you are smearing it when you apply your foundation. It leaves a smooth texture on your skin so it minimises the appearance of pores in your final makeup look and it smoothes over small blemishes. There is no fragrance to this product and it is completely translucent on your skin. I have seen a difference in the longevity of my makeup, especially where my glasses sit on my face. In that area my makeup stays pretty much in tact all day.
DCH Velvet Skin Coat is priced at £18.00.
