Nivea have followed the micellar cleansing water trend, with their Daily Essentials 3-in-1 Sensitive Caring Micellar Water. Micellar water contains micelles, which are cleansing agents that act like dirt magnets and are able to lift away make-up and impurities, with such ease that no rubbing is required. Nivea say that when applied with a cotton pad, micelles enclose oil and make-up within their centre, but keep water outside.
There are three main areas which Nivea addresses – it removes eye make-up gently without rubbing, it cleanses deeply and effectively removes makeup, and lastly it moisturises and helps to reduce the three signs of sensitive skin (redness, tightness, dryness). The Micellar Water is able to provide moisture to the skin because you don’t have to wash it off, unlike with most cleansers. Impressively, there’s no need for a toner after you use this cleanser; I view this as a 4-in-1 product rather than a 3-in-1 product.
This product is clear and looks as gentle as is claimed. Nivea have made this to be suitable for sensitive skin, due to the lack of parabens, colour and perfume within the formula. It absorbs well in cotton pads, making it easy and mess-free when applying it to the face. I have used this on heavy eye makeup and it removes nearly everything, but for good measure I always have a final cleanse with just water and have not replaced my usual moisturiser. I have sensitive skin and felt that this micellar water was gentle enough for it, whilst possessing a supreme cleansing ability. True to its description, no rubbing is required, which will particularly benefit the delicate eye-area in the long-term.
I feel that this release by Nivea is an excellent, multi-purpose and convenient skincare product, as is the case with other micellar waters – the wonder is in the micelle technology itself. It is amazingly affordable and leaves the skin feeling clean and refreshed.
Nivea’s Daily Essentials 3-in-1 Sensitive Caring Micellar Water is priced at £3.69.
