Weleda is the original green beauty brand, created in 1921 it works in harmony with nature and the human being by using natural ingredients. They have won numerous awards for their products in particular the Weleda Citrus Hand and Nail Cream.
This Hand and Nail Cream smells delicious. I like the freshness of citrus scented products but sometimes the scent can be overwhelming. It’s usually because there is too much orange in it but there’s no such problem here. The scent is very present but delicately balanced. It’s also tempered by the fact I can smell the wool wax which reminds me of a childhood trip to a farm. Before that makes you recoil in horror, it is a pleasant memory and a soothing and surprisingly neutral smell.
However, it’s not as rich as Weleda’s Skin Food; (look out for a review on this later) this product provides a nice amount of moisture which can feel oily initially so you need to wait a minute or so for it to sink in. To get the best out of this Hand and Nail Cream you need to massage it in properly to melt the oils and really let them sink into the skin.
I paid special attention to my peeling nails by warming the cream while massaging my hands then working the oils into my nails and cuticles. It sunk in nicely, instantly making my nails look better and clearly nourishing them. Visually, it looked like the peeled layers had been repaired and they felt smooth which Weleda would probably say is the work of the carnauba and wool wax. The almond oil is there for your cuticles but I think (from a non-expert point of view) that it was the almond oil that did the repair job whilst the waxes held it in place. I am imagining a little tag team in my head.
This cream is a pleasure to use. I really enjoyed massaging it in and feeling soothed. I have very dry hands so this is good to use every time I wash my hands or wash up without gloves. If I need something with more repairing power after too much washing up, I’ll massage the Citrus Hand and Nail Cream into my hands and nails and lock it in with Weleda’s Skin Food.
The Weleda Citrus Hand and Nail Cream retails for £9.95 for 50ml.
