Natasha Glover is a beauty addict who runs a beauty blog called Tasha’s Face where she covers her latest finds and passions. She describes herself as a lover of makeup, nice nails and good skin who never wears the same face two days in a row. She took time out to show us the products in her makeup bag.
In any one week I get through a large selection of makeup, I just can’t wear the same face everyday – unless it is my natural, makeup-free face of course. I wear whatever matches my mood at the time. My base products tend to remain the same: Max Factor Face Finity Primer, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Sticks in 6 (Golden) and 6.5 (Warm Almond), Benefit Stay Don’t Stray in medium/deep, Benefit Boi-ing in shade 4 and Black|Up Two Way Cake in TW01. I also use Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick to prepare my lips for colour and I’m just trying out Clinique’s Just Browsing Brush-on Brow Styling Mousse in 04 black/brown.
I was given the primer as a gift and it’s brilliant. I wouldn’t have chosen it otherwise but it performs well to keep my foundation in place all day. Stay Don’t Stray is an essential base product for my eyes. Benefit Boi-ing is a cream concealer which also highlights. I cannot live without concealer as it instantly covers all signs on tiredness and that’s essential when you have a little one. The Bobbi Brown Foundation Sticks have revolutionised my routine and my look. They are just so quick and easy to apply, a dream to blend and they give me the perfect skin-looking finish.
I set my foundation and concealer with Two Way Cake because cream concealer always needs setting and I have an oily T-zone. The Two Way Cake Powder is very fine so ironically my face doesn’t feel “caked” on at all. I am a huge fan of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream range and the Lip Protectant Stick is no exception. I am growing my brows and Clinique’s Just Browsing is the perfect brow grooming product – it keeps my brows neat and fills in the sparse areas with minimal effort and time. Plus it looks really natural.
For my eyes, I usually line the upper lash line only using Lancôme Artliner in black because it’s quick. It’s the easiest way to apply liquid liner. I have lots of mascara but at the moment I’ll either use Black|Up Volumising and Lengthening Mascara in Bleu if I want my eyes to pop or if I’m wearing a strong lip colour I’ll wear Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in black. They both open up my eyes by adding a little volume and lots of length. Lash Sensational also gives a good curl, probably because of the shape of the brush. The main thing I want from mascara is length, because volume can be faked with eyeliner, and both of these perform to my satisfaction.
My cheek colour will depend on my lip colour and I usually end up wearing a different lip everyday, or even several times a day. At the moment my lips colours are: Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer in Cherry Pop as it’s creamy, comfortable, long lasting and the only red I can wear without lip liner; Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet for a matte pop of deep pink; Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks in 663 Va Va Velvet, 447 Black Cherry and 665 Chocolicious to embrace the dark lip trend for autumn; and Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in 48 which is a good natural shade for me. I have also been wearing the Fashion Fair Chocolate Raspberry Collection; the lipstick, lip teaser and lip liner pencil, because sometimes I just have to wear a creamy hot pink. I’ve been trying out the Clarins Lip Definer in 02 nude beige as it goes with all lip colours.
For my cheeks I have been using Fashion Fair Beauty Blush in Plum Rich and Sleek Blush in Flushed 935. These are matte shades so can look flat on my face in the colder months. I bring them alive using a highlighter such as the highlight from the Sleek Makeup Face Contour Kit in Medium 885, the bronze shade from Sleek Face Form in Dark 375 or the Antique Bronze Powder from the Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette.
I always finish with a spritz of Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. My current must-have product is my Benefit Stay Don’t Stray. It acts as a base for concealer and eyeshadow. You’ll notice a theme with the things I love – they have to be quick and easy to apply. This one is also a multi-tasking. I use it under my eyes to brighten them, then I apply the concealer on top to colour correct and brighten. I use it on my lids on its own because it has a brightening effect, just like using a matte cream eyeshadow. When I use eyeshadow it’s a great base as it really makes the colours pop.
I rather naughtily don’t use a makeup bag, I just collect lipsticks in a compartment in my handbag and add to that my powder and the blusher I am wearing that day. I intend to use the gorgeous brown satin bag I received from Fashion Fair last month in an effort to be more grown-up.
