Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF 40 promises to give you healthy and beautiful skin. It is formulated with Lychee, Bamboo Grass and Cordyceps Mushroom extracts which helps give your skin the energy it needs to look fresher and younger.
This foundation helps to support your skin's cellular energy and also offers key anti-aging benefits for a smoother, firmer, more lifted look. Ultrafine pigments cover imperfections without settling into fine lines. Plus, SPF 35- 40 helps prevent future damage.
This is a foundation that combines both makeup and skincare together in one product. On a personal note, I prefer to keep my skincare and makeup needs separate, and as this is a foundation and would go on after all your skincare, I’m not sure how well it would work as your primary skincare serum.
Having said that the additional skincare benefits are nice to have and I love that although it has a high SPF of 40, it doesn’t leave a white cast or grey finish on darker skin tones as some other foundations do. It wears comfortably and applies easily without streaking. It’s also nice and moisturising with a lovely glow and dewy finish to it. In addition to this, it has a light coverage finish but it’s easy to build it up to a medium finish.
With my combination to oily skin, I found that to get the perfect finish, I needed to apply a finishing powder over my face to stop it looking overly dewy and I also used a pore minimising primer over my cheeks (where I have my open pores) to stop it from settling into my pores. However if you have dry to normal skin, (the skin type the foundation is intended for) you might find that you can get away with it.
The packaging is definitely challenging, and that’s putting it mildly. The dark colour of the bottle makes it a little difficult to see when you are running low on the product and the pipette/dropper is such a mission to use. I found it either picked up too much product or it didn’t pick up any product at all. I also found that it would deposit the foundation all over the neck of the bottle.
That being said, it really does apply beautifully, and it gives a lovely glow and finish to the skin with good coverage and smoothness. I really liked it and how it made my skin look. It comes in 17 shades of which eight are appropriate for brownbeauties.
