Dove Quench Absolute Shampoo

The Dove Advanced Hair Series Quench Absolute Collection is Dove’s solution to naturally dry, coarse curly hair. The Quench Absolute Shampoo is part of the collection and has been formulated with nutrients, Buriti Oil and proteins which quench dryness, provides nourishment and strengthens and smooths hair. There are five other products in the Quench Absolute collection which features conditioners and styling products.

The Quench Absolute Shampoo comes in a tube container and is very easy to use. The texture of the shampoo is quite thick and I use a fair amount which produces a rich lather which little effort. The lather provides enough slip for finger detangling which I was very impressed by. The shampoo has a very pleasant scent which lingers for some time.  

For my 4c natural hair, dryness and breakage is part and parcel of its everyday life so I was looking forward to testing the nourishing and moisturising claims of the shampoo. Dove claims the shampoo will provide extra nourishment and will gently cleanse and strengthen hair. After lathering and rinsing twice, my hair was very smooth and soft to touch. I also love the cleansing action of the Shampoo; my hair and scalp were gently cleansed without feeling like it had been stripped of its natural oils. 

The shampoo does contain SLS and silicones, however it doesn’t leave my hair dry. After cleansing my curls look slightly defined and very soft. Buriti Oil is a new ingredient for me and I’m not quite sure if it’s responsible for the very pleasant scent however it has worked well for my 4c hair.

I absolutely love the Quench Absolute Shampoo, it works to gently cleanse the hair and scalp and the smell is rather lovely. I love how much suds it produces which is very good for finger detangling. This also makes detangling with my wide tooth comb easier and much quicker. The Quench Absolute series is definitely worth looking at and the shampoo is definitely worth trying if you have dry hair.
