L’Oréal True Match Foundation

L’Oréal True Match Foundation

The L’Oréal True Match Foundation is a super blendable velvety foundation that matches your skin tone for a true to skin finish. The very popular foundation from L’Oréal is available in 23 shades which L’Oréal say matches 98% of UK skintones and promises a flawless finish that doesn’t look fake. The True Match Foundation also comes in different undertones: cool, neutral or warm to help you find your perfect match.

This product comes in the standard 30ml size in a glass bottle and a pump and also has SPF 17 in it. I received the 9.R/9.C Deep Cool shade which I have been testing out for a while now. The foundation feels very light on my skin, almost as if you don’t have anything on and blends very easily with a buffing brush or a sponge.

The foundation looks very shimmery whilst in the bottle which I don’t mind as I like luminous/dewy foundations, however my first impressions of the foundation were not good. Although it blended nicely it looked too shimmery on my skin. However I realised I didn’t shake it at all (which L’Oréal recommend you do). My second impressions were far better after I shook the bottle really well in order to mix the shimmery pigments with the foundation and it looked better on as well. It still had the luminous finish but it didn’t look too shimmery on.

I would describe the foundation has having medium coverage which is very buildable with a luminous finish and feels like nothing on the skin. The consistency is slightly runny without being too thick. I used two to three pumps for my entire face and that worked well to cover up some imperfections in addition to colour correcting too. The foundation has great lasting powder and holds up well in heat.

This foundation can go all day without melting off my skin although after five to six hours it began to separate around the mouth area. Even though it has a luminous finish, it doesn’t highlight texture on the skin or pores which I am very happy about. I have normal to combo skin with a slightly oily T-zone and I found the foundation didn’t make me look too oily. I did have to blot after four to five hours of wear which is the usual for me anyway.

Even though I received the wrong undertone (9.R/9.C is very red and I have really warm golden undertones) I was able to alter the undertone by mixing it with a very yellow concealer. The True Match Foundation is very nice and will be great for summer. Even with 23 shades, I believe there is still room for more: only four of the 23 shades are actually suitable for dark skintones and obviously the four shades will be very limited in terms of matching your undertones as well.

8W, the shade before 9.C is very light and yellow - 9.C is a good shade but very red for me. I think a lot of people will still be lacking when it comes to finding the correct shades and undertones.  I will recommend this foundation if you prefer the luminous/dewy finishes and you can get a match for your skin and undertone.

L’Oréal True Match Foundation is priced at £9.99 and you can purchase it from Superdrug.
