Nip + Fab Foundation and Foundation Mixer

Nip + Fab is well known on the British High Street as having effective skincare that targets diverse skin types at budget friendly prices. Probably their most popular range, the glycolic fix is loved by many including myself.

This year, they expanded their repertoire of products to include makeup items like foundations, lipsticks, eyeshadows etc. As with everyone I was really excited to hear of this but for Women of Colour we know to hold back just a little bit because there is a possibility it may not be brown girl friendly.

The full makeup collection includes 10 foundation shades plus a dark and light foundation mixer, colour correctors, liquid lipsticks, eyeshadows, blush and highlighter palettes. The collection also includes a setting spray and a primer and brow products. I was sent the foundation shade in #50 and the dark foundation mixer.. I was super eager to start testing them out right away.

The foundation is described as medium coverage leaving your skin flawless and selfie ready. They also describe it as a natural matte finish with a lightweight feel and texture. It holds up really well during the day and I didn’t have any issues with it separating around the lip area or settling into lines. It also doesn’t clog pores and emphasize them. I agree with the natural matte finish and it feels very comfortable and lightweight on.

The coverage of the foundation is medium but its buildable and blends very well with a buffing brush or sponge.  It doesn’t oxide and shade #50 is one of the darkest shades in the range. I had to add the dark foundation mixer (just a drop or two) in order to get a good shade match. I am very impressed with the dark foundation mixer. I love the undertone is almost neutral and doesn’t add any red to the foundation.

I think these products work extremely well together however wish they would also expand the shade range. I am not the biggest fan of mixing foundations but the idea of the mixers is a good idea. The foundation is good for everyday wear and feels very comfortable and lightweight on the skin.

Nip + Fab Foundation and Foundation Mixer are priced at £12.95 each.
