Revlon Colorstay Foundation
Revlon’s Colorstay Foundation is a much-loved foundation and I was enthusiastic to find out exactly why. It is described as specially formulated for normal or dry skin, this hydrating formula keeps your skin moisture level balanced with a beautiful satin finish. It has a buildable formula that blends seamlessly onto your skin for a perfectly even, yet truly natural complexion all day long. It also offers medium to full coverage in nine true-to-skin shades.
There are two versions - one for combination/oily skin, and the other for normal/dry skin. I tried the latter, which is suitable for my own normal to dry skin. I always try to get foundations which are hydrating and full of radiance, rather than ones which mattify (and consequently dry the skin), so Revlon’s Colorstay Foundation is formulated the way I like it. It has a thin to medium consistency, which feels wonderfully lightweight and somewhat cool and refreshing on the skin.
Because of the hydrating formula and lightweight consistency, it’s effortless to build the foundation up for a solid medium coverage. It has a subtle radiance to its finish but one which is kept under control, and with oil at bay. I’m not sure it wears for up to 24 hours like Revlon claim - after roughly five or six hours, a few touch ups are required here and there, but if worn on top of a primer it can last for several hours more.
I tried this Foundation in the shade Toast, which is a nice shade of brown with warm honey undertones to mimic the natural yellow undertones of the skin. Generally, it wears well but does oxidise a little, however not as much as other foundations I’ve tried. Because of the lightweight texture and hydrating aspect, this foundation doesn’t settle into fine lines or cake as the day progresses, and looks fresh for several hours. I would like to see one or two darker shades however overall, I think this is a great foundation that delivers superbly, especially for its affordable price tag.
