Oct 26 What's In My Makeup Bag - Miranda Brawn

Miranda Brawn is an investment banker and barrister who serves on the board of several impressive organisations such as the Black Cultural Archives and Black British Academics. She has also been listed in the Brummel Top 30 Most Inspirational Women in the City. She took time out to show me the items in her makeup bag. Describe the items in your makeup bag. I love makeup and need quality products which last all day as I do not have time for numerous touch ups. I enjoy trying out new brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, Tom Ford, Dior, Bobbi Brown, Chanel and Estee Lauder for a flawless finish. I like to look natural in my makeup with dewy skin and rosy lips. The following products are kept in my makeup bag to help me to achieve this look.

Lip Products I attended an event with Charlotte Tilbury where she introduced me to her makeup. I love her makeup and her love for making women look and feel sexy and powerful. Capturing my full attention was the Lip Cheat Pencil in Pillow Talk, a soft nude pink shade. My lip colour stays in place for a long time which is perfect for when you want to create a polished look. Charlotte Tilbury’s Seduction Lipgloss is amazing and goes well with her K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick in Stoned Rose. Her Matte Revolutions Lipstick in Walk of Shame is a sexy shade for the evening. Her lipsticks feel hydrating and moisturising complete with rich retro rose gold sleek and sophisticated packaging. These are all fully pigmented and comfortable to wear. I have several lip sticks and glosses as I like to have a choice while on the go.

Dior Lipgloss in Atout C0eur 783 is perfect, it is a flattering and plumping natural nude pink shade which would suit many skin types. It is not too sticky and lasts a good amount of time. Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Attirance is another great pink gloss. Tom Ford in Pussycatis a lovely dark pink colour which is a cross between a pink and red so I get the best of both worlds. That said, I love a good classic red lipstick to jazz up an outfit or for a night out too such as MAC’s Lip Pencil in Cherryand their Lipstick in Russian Red.Dior Rouge Lipstick in Red 999 is perfect for a black tie event while the Dior Diorifie Lipstick in Liz 024 warms up the lips for the day with a pinky brown colour. MAC Lip Pencil in Spice is great and can be worn all over the lip without anything else.

Face ProductsCharlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze and Glow Face Sculpt and Highlightwhich is a bronze shade and a shimmery gold sheen for the highlight. I use the highlighter mostly for a nice healthy glow and the Dior Nude Bronzer to add a little contour and warmth to my skin. Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusherhelps to contour and highlight my cheek bones too. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Concealer in warm medium and Powder in Spiced Sand work well with the matching Foundation. These products provide a great colour match and coverage for me. My makeup stays in place all day. I still have the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Warm Honey in my makeup bag as this is another favourite of mine.

The Bobbi Brown Corrector in Peach never leaves my makeup bag. I have been using this for over one year with the Bobbi Brown Concealer Blending Brush. I have also recently bought the following concealers which have also proven to be amazing. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraserin Nude which is the best high street concealer in my humble opinion for dark under eye circles. It is extremely light consistency, great for brightening under the eye and can be used on other parts of the face. It does not look cakey. Keyvn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX08 is wonderful; it's soft, creamy and not drying at all. It's a little pot of heaven stored at the bottom of my makeup bag. A small amount goes a long way and covers up any imperfections. Never leave home without a good concealer ladies!

Eye ProductsChanel Inimitable Waterproof Volume Length Curl Mascara in blackgives my lashes extra curl and the curl stay in place for a very long time giving amazing results without the need for my Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. I wear this with the Chanel Liquid Eyeliner in blackto give my eyes a dramatic look without the need for fake eyelashes. I have just discovered the Estee Lauder Stay in Place Brow Pencil in Blonde Brownwith the highlighter to achieve a polished and natural looking brow.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in golden bronze is great to jazz up the eyes when I’m on the go. It is lightweight and so easy to use without brushes. The colour is a bronze natural shade which works perfect with my skin tone. It is so easy to use and it knocks minutes off my morning make-up routine which is approximately five minutes. One sweep and it’s done. Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow in Panama is perfect for added evening glamour with dark brown tones. I use the Estée Lauder Eye Shadow Brush for Blending.

Which is your favourite item in your makeup bag? My staple item is a good lipstick which is usually a pinky nude colour to create an elegant look. If I had to choose between all the lip products in my makeup bag it would have to be the Tom Ford Lipstick in Pussycat as this is my newest product which has quickly become a favourite. I love how it instantly brightens up my face. It is perfect for work, play, photo shoots, television and speaking engagements.

Where did you get your makeup bag? My makeup bag is from Yves Saint Laurent and was a gift when I purchased their YSL Black Opium Perfume. It is the perfect size to for daily use as it allows me to store a lot of products for my busy schedule.
