What Happened at our Festive Makeup Masterclass with Bobbi Brown
So last Thursday we held a Festive Makeup Masterclass with Bobbi Brown at their PRO Store in Soho. It was hosted by Adeola Gboyega, a PRO Artist for the brand and the aim was to create awareness of how Bobbi Brown products can be used for deeper skin tones and also to educate and inspire the attendees to do their own makeup effectively. The theme of the evening was how to create the perfect festive day to night look.
Adeola’s work has been featured in Vogue, The Telegraph, and Get The Gloss. She also has extensive backstage fashion show experience, working at both New York and London Fashion week on shows such as Felder & Felder, Natasha Zinko, Alexander Lewis, Matthew Williamson and Sophia Webster.
After following Adeola on Instagram for a good while I was struck not only by her work which is fresh and beautiful but also by her obvious passion for makeup. It’s clear that Adeola’s aim is to make women look their best by working with their features as opposed to against them and I knew she would be the best person to lead their masterclass.
She kicked off by the session by talking about Bobbi Brown and her passion for the brand which led to her working for them. We had two models for the evening, Joy Agber and Tunrayo Oyewole; Joy would showcase the daytime look and Tunrayo would show off the evening one.
Adeola started off with Joy by creating a daytime look that was natural and quick to do. The focus was on warm and nude tones to complement the skin.
She prepped Joy’s skin with the Hydrating Tonic, Hydrating Eye Cream, Vitamin Enriched Face Base and Primer plus Mattifier. For the base she used the Corrector in Very Deep Bisque, Instant full Cover Concealer, Skin Longwear Weightless Foundation, Foundation Stick, and the Skin Weightless Powder all in the shade of Almond.
For the eyes she used the Eye Shadow in Velvet Plum, Eye Liner in Black Plum, Longwear Gel Liner in Black Ink and the Smokey Eye Mascara completed the look. The Brow Kit in Saddle/Mahogany and a Clear Waterproof Brow Gel was used to emphasis the brows.
For the cheeks she used the Blusher in Plum, Highlighting Power in Bronze Glow Highlighter and the Stick Foundation in Espresso as a bronzer. The lips were kept natural with a Shimmer Lip Gloss Kir Sugar and a Crystal Gloss. The look was completed with the Retouching Powder in Bronze. and 3in1 Setting Spray.
Tunrayo’s look was all about evening glam. Adeola used the same prepping process as she did for Joy. Then she used a Corrector in Deep Peach, Instant Full Coverage Concealer in Warm Honey, Skin Long Wear Weightless Foundation in Warm Almond and Skin Weightless Powder in Warm Almond.
She used the Skin Foundation Stick as a base and for contouring she actually used a darker version of the Foundation Stick. This was followed by a Deep Bronzer, Pot Rouge in Blushed Rose and Highlighter in Bronze Glow.
The eyes were emphasised with a Brow Kit in Saddle and Mahogany, Longwear Gel Liner in Black Ink and Smokey Eye Mascara. For the lips it was full on glam with the Luxe Liquid Lipstick Matte Velvet in Your Majesty and topped off with the same product in Starlet Scarlet. The look was completed with the Retouching Powder in Peach.
Both looks focussed on creating natural glow up and in true Bobbi Brown nature both of Joy and Tunrayo looked glam and fresh.
We would like to thank Bobbi Brown for collaborating with us on this event and the fabulous Adeola for spear-headng the event. Also our lovely bloggers, Social Media Influencers and podcasters who took part.
