Jodie Ollivierre - Senior Account Manager

“Darker skin and tighter textures in campaigns are a start, but diversity must exist behind the scenes, not just on the screen.”

How did you get into beauty PR?

I started out as a social media executive at a PR agency with sports clients, where I built strong creator connections that proved invaluable. When the opportunity at a textured hair brand which I loved, came up, I jumped at it. Over five exciting years, I managed social media, ran events, directed shoots, and led paid campaigns, but what I really thrived on was working with creators. I loved building authentic relationships and matching the right talent with the right brand. Freelancing with beauty brands further sharpened my skills, and today I’m in a role that perfectly aligns with my passions and career goals.

Describe a typical week in your life

No two weeks are the same, but the core of my role is consistent. I often manage events, ensuring everything runs smoothly, followed by creating detailed post-campaign reports so clients clearly see the impact. Alongside this, I’m always exploring new opportunities beyond planned activities. A big part of the job involves working with spreadsheets and Google Docs to analyse data, track performance, and assess whether campaigns were successful. While it may sound unglamorous, I genuinely enjoy the process of diving into data and then translating those insights into clear, engaging updates that demonstrate value and results to clients.

Tell us what's in your makeup bag

I’m a Real Techniques girly through and through, those brushes never let me down and you can grab them easily from Boots or Superdrug. My base routine is locked in: Too Faced Concealer - two shades lighter for that bright under-eye, and trust me, a dot is all you need. When the weather’s hot, ELF Primer is my absolute saviour. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with the Hourglass Eyebrow Sculpting Pencil, so sleek and precise. And of course, I always keep my trusty Paw Paw Lip Balm on hand for that perfect finishing touch.

What are your favourite foundations?

Haus Labs foundation is hands-down the best I’ve ever tried, and trust me, I’ve tested everything from luxury to drugstore. The colour match is unmatched. With my skin, I deal with hyperpigmentation, brighter under-eyes, brown cheeks, and a darker chin area, so finding one foundation that evens everything out without turning me orange or red has always felt impossible. Somehow, Haus Labs nailed it. The product blends seamlessly, balances all my tones, and leaves me looking flawless every single time. I honestly don’t know how they’ve done it, but they have, and for that, it’s become my holy grail foundation. Hats off to them.

Which hair products do you use?

Cecred has completely transformed my wash days, I honestly don’t want to use anything else. If my scalp’s feeling flaky, I start with the Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo, then follow with the Moisturising Deep Conditioner. On a regular wash day, it’s straight to the Shampoo and Deep Moisturising Conditioner. The Shampoo is the star, it delivers exactly what it promises without stripping my hair. It gives enough slip to detangle as you wash, saving so much time and effort. No tangles, no dryness, just a clean, soft, and refreshed scalp. Cecred truly makes wash day effortless, effective, and a joy every single time.

Which skincare products do you use?

I’ve recently treated myself to some new skincare from Aveeno and honestly, I’m obsessed. I picked up the Oat Cleanser and Oat Milk Moisturiser, and they’ve been a dream for my skin; so gentle, so soothing, and perfect for keeping dryness at bay. My skin feels nourished, calm, and super happy with this combo. For my body, I’m keeping it simple but luxe with Dove Body Wash. I’m currently using the mango one and it smells absolutely divine, like summer in a bottle, while leaving my skin soft, smooth, and refreshed. It’s such an easy routine, but it really does the trick.

How do you think the beauty scene now compares to pre-2020?

Since COVID, beauty shopping has shifted massively online, with new platforms and trends like TikTok shaping how people discover products. Word of mouth and niche communities now carry huge influence. Inclusion in beauty, however, still comes in waves. 2020 was a big moment, but momentum has slowed. While brands showcase more shades and textures, true diversity must also exist behind the scenes, not just in campaigns. It’s encouraging to see progress, more representation for darker skin tones and tighter curls, but there’s still a long way to go. The industry is evolving, and while improvements are happening, the real work continues.
